Playboy Plus Review

The Categories are worth looking over to gain a better understanding of their nuances. Some of the smallest ones, like Celebrities and Adult Stars, are precisely what they sound like. The other small category is Playboy Creators, which appears to be self-shot content, similar to OnlyFans and Fansly.

The bulk of the content comes from Playmates, Playboy Muses, VIP Content, and International. Playmates are the exclusive Playboy girls, and International is the same, but with models originating from their studios in Brazil, Germany, and South Africa. Playboy Muses and VIP are more grab-bags and include their first forays into digital, with many web-only shoots and nonexclusive models dating back to the turn of the millennium.

Finally, there's the Editor's Choice category, which is mostly compilation porn, with curated photo sets and videos stitched together to form new scenes. You'll also find previously unpublished photos, casting calls, "home" videos, and podcasts. I'm usually not a fan of compilations, but some are a real labor of love, with interesting themes like March Birthdays, Seasonal Flashbacks, Daily Doubles, and others.

As for the action, this is Playboy, so if you're expecting to see hardcore porn, this isn't the membership for you. It's all softcore or full frontal, and there are no men to distract you from this female-only paradise. 

What Works on Playboy Plus?

Although Hugh Hefner's original magazine went to print in 1953 (and ended its run in 2020), the online experience is thoroughly modern. It's evolved over the years, and the current version is streamlined and designed to highlight the models' beauty, from the massive thumbnails to the UI elements. It's also mobile-responsive, giving you smooth access on any device.

There are advanced searches and sorting options. You can add content to your favorites, leave comments, reply to feedback from other users, and rate the scenes. The photos feature an automatic slideshow option, and you can easily zoom in and out.

The model index has sorting options, an alphabetical index, filters for hair color, and the ability to browse by the same categories as the movies. Most girls have a bio, although some are more generic than others. You can also rate them and post comments.

What Doesn't Work on Playboy Plus?

Downloads are not included with all plans. Currently, there are two monthly options, one with downloads and the other streaming only. If you choose downloads, there's a daily limit of 300GB, which is as close to unlimited access as you can get while still having a restriction in place, as it would take over 300 4K downloads to reach it.

Remastered and upscaled SD content is pretty standard on Playboy Plus. The remasters look good, but the upscaled content is just bigger versions of low-quality footage, which doesn't look all that great. Of course, we're talking about a massive collection of old content, so this shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, but knowing what to expect beforehand is always preferable.

You can't separate the photos from the videos. You don't get tags, either, and the categories don't describe what you'll get and often overlap, like pornstars appearing in the Celebrities section or compilations bleeding into other sections outside of Editor's Choice. And if a shoot is a video only, it's just a blank thumbnail with no autoplay to tell you what's inside.

Although you probably won't be itching for more content, it's still worth mentioning that members don't get any bonus sites. Instead, you'll have to pay more to become a VIP or check out Playboy TV. 

Do I Recommend Playboy Plus?

The collection is massive, updates frequently, and continues to increase in quality. Not getting downloads with the cheaper monthly plan is not ideal, but it's still worth checking out even if you only stream the videos. Ultimately, if you're looking for nostalgic content or want to discover what makes this brand so venerated, you couldn't ask for more.
