Pros and Cons
- can leave comments
- zipped image galleries
- bonus sites
- discontinued updates
- low-quality videos
- awkward navigation
Look everybody, it's Hentai Mania, a hardcore hentai and animation site. Oh wait, there are a billion of those sites out there. So what makes this one so much better than the rest? Nothing actually, besides the fact that the price is a bit lower than some of the high-end ones on the market and it comes with a few theme-related bonus sites. Then again, it stopped adding new content over six years ago.
The navigation on HentaiMania isn't quite ideal when it comes to the pics and the same can be said about the organization of the movies. There are 42 low-quality videos. Some of them look okay on screen, but considering that animation often isn't as affected by the factors of screen size or bit rates, these ones really do suffer from the ill effects of their lackluster Windows Media format. I do appreciate that they last over 20 minutes.
The movies are listed by OVA ("original video animation") series, with each being represented by a screenshot. This can get quite confusing whenever the OVA is more than two episodes long. That's because the "first" episode will take you to where you can watch one, two or three actual episodes and the "second" episode does the same, but instead has just one OVA series with all the episodes in one section. (Sidebar for the uninformed: OVAs are often multi-episode miniseries that never made it to television.)
Because of similar organization, it will take you about four clicks to get to the pictures, but once you get through the categories and subgenres, you will be happy with the quality, because some of them look quite good. The 26 image galleries include 16 exclusives sets with pics that tell a story without words. That's about half as many as there used to be in that section, whereas the nonexclusive section is smaller and has most of its content crammed into one gigantic set.
The exclusive material contains manga based on popular anime characters. The nonexclusive collections cover a few styles, from anime to elaborate illustrations by artists like Julie Bell and Ron Miller. You'll see the favorite hentai fantasy of tentacle sex and the exotic futanari girls who are usually portrayed as large-breasted hermaphrodites. They have big dicks, but they also sometimes have a pussy found nestled between their swollen balls.
You get three working bonus sites: Evil Comics, Lust Comics and Sex On Hawaii. The fourth links to a site that is closed. All three functioning ones have toons, but they don't focus on hentai and don't offer any vids, so they add limited value to your membership. There's also an archive of downloadable live-action DVDs. Hentai Mania may have some exclusive content, but it's not growing and doesn't give you much in the way of quality.
