Pros and Cons
- good-looking videos
- keyword tags
- model index
- mostly nonexclusive content
- no advanced search
- unlimited streaming plan is expensive
The sitename isn't misspelled - "univers" is how you write "universe" in French, but it seems a tad odd given that that the second part of Univers Black is simply in English. At any rate, if it was straight-up written in English it would be Black Universe and, in fact, the site is dedicated to a mix of ebony and interracial satisfaction from France.
UniversBlack has content pulled from its own DVD library, as well as ones from Cadinot (which are also offered on an eponymous site accessible as a bonus), along with outside sources, like Flava and Pitbull. If you're not familiar with these productions let me just say that they showcase a lot of rough sex featuring macho-looking performers, some who identify as straight.
It's not clear how often they're adding new vids, because nothing is dated. It's not going to be a big concern, though, because with 1,045 videos already, there's no lack of content here. Now, there aren't any pics, but you do get multiple screenshots below each video's write-up and a limited number have free trailers to stream once you've created a free account.
You have a couple of VOD options to choose from, including 24-hour streaming access that gives you good-looking playback. You can also use more of your tokens, or "tickets" as they call them, to download good-quality versions.
There's also an unlimited streaming option that would be billed each month, but it's too high to even consider, in my opinion. Whereas if you compare this site's streaming VOD rates to others on the market, it's actually quite reasonable. I think not committing to a monthly recurring fee and only paying for what you actually take the time to watch provides you with affordable flexibility.
I do have a few issues with the site, namely that there's so much hot content, but not a lot of ways to track down exactly what you want and no easy way to keep track of what you do find. You can't save your favorites for one thing and there's no advanced search. You can browse by a number of categories, though, and much of the content has keywords, including "in the basement," which is amusingly accurate.
I almost forgot to mention that when browsing the DVDs rather than the individual scenes, you can sort alphabetically and by date (even though the content isn't dated). Perhaps more useful to those of us on a budget is that the scenes section can be sorted by price and most recently added. I should also mention that the model index can be filtered by black, Latino, Arab and white.
All in all, Univers Black should work for anyone looking for good value who doesn't want to be tied down to a recurring plan. You can also check out the other VOD sites on the network, like Dark Cruising and Gay Arab Club, that use the same ticket system throughout.
