Lavender Lounge Review

I was unfamiliar with Lavender Lounge when it aired between 1991 and 1995. Granted, it aired on public access television far away from me in San Francisco and I never saw it during its six-month run on satellite broadcast. Still it was nicknamed the "The Queer American Bandstand" by many of its fans. Apparently, after the show ended, Mark Kliem, its creator and executive producer, went on to work in the adult industry.

This incarnation of LavenderLounge doesn't even remotely resemble the relatively wholesome image that the former dance show for gay boys and girls conjures up. Moreover, while that program offered a gay approach to a traditionally straight concept, this collection is more of an alternative approach to traditional gay porn.
