UPDATE: It’s our 15th Birthday and we’re in a hardcore partying kind of mood. So why not join the party? After all, it’s the more the merrier as they say and we’ve got a great contest underway for loyal readers like you. It gives you the chance to win one of the many Free Memberships Worth Thousands of Dollars we’re giving away along with tokens to some of the top adult sites.

2018 marks the 15th anniversary of the Rabbits Reviews website. A site that has, over the last decade and a half, grown into the largest adult review site in the world. Rabbit has become the king of online porn reviews, but back in 2003, he was just a bunny with a dream, hopping into a busy and chaotic world both online and off. So, with that in mind, I thought it would be fun to take a look at what else was going on in the world the year RabbitsReviews entered it.

The Start of the Iraq War

Remember all that “weapons of mass destruction” talk that lead to the United States leading a coalition of forces into a war in Iraq? Well, that started on March 20, 2003. Less than two months later, on May 1, President George W. Bush would give his infamous “Mission Accomplished” speech stating that “major combat operations in Iraq have ended.” Nine months later on December 13, 2003, the US Army’s 4th Infantry Division captured the former President of Iraq, Saddam Hussein. And it wouldn’t be until 2011 that the United States would officially withdraw from the country.

A Terminator in the Governor’s Mansion

Many of you might’ve forgotten that Arnold Schwarzenegger was governor of California, even though it was a position he held for eight years. First elected in November 2003, he was reelected in 2006 and ended his gubernatorial reign in January 2011.

Human Genome Project Completed

While RabbitsReviews was just getting started mapping the complete porn-site sequence of the internet, the Human Genome Project was finishing its incredible mission to map the human genome sequence. The project began in 1990 and on April 14, 2003, it was completed with 99% of the human genome sequenced to 99.99% accuracy!

Rabbits Reviews took time to grow into the mega-popular and mega-visited site it is today. However, there was another internet launch that happened back in 2003 and entered our lives with a whole lot more fanfare – iTunes! Yes, that’s right, boys and girls, on April 28, 2003, Apple launched iTunes and proved to the music industry (unsure of what to do with the rise of music-sharing sites like Napster) that people were very willing to pay for music. Within four months of its launch, iTunes had sold 10 million songs!

The 2003 AVN Awards

On January 11, 2003, the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas hosted the 20th Annual AVN Awards ceremony. Here are a couple of the big winners from that night 15 years ago.

Best New Starlet: Jenna Haze

Yes, the gorgeous Jenna Haze (Complex magazine ranked her 16th on their list of The 50 Prettiest Porn Stars of All Time) was but a newcomer back in 2003, having only entered the industry a year and a half prior to the ceremony. Rabbit, and the rest of us working on the site, we certainly didn’t know how big of a star she would become, winning multiple AVN awards over her career including Female Performer of the Year in 2009.

For those of you wondering why you haven’t seen any new scenes from Jenna lately, the beautiful Ms. Haze retired from performing in 2012. Looking to enjoy some of her outstanding performances? In the mid-2000s, she dated and worked with adult director Jules Jordan and you can find 20 incredible Jenna Haze scenes on the Jules Jordan site (which we’ve rated quite high).

Female Performer of the Year: Aurora Snow

RabbitsReviews hadn’t even gone live yet when Aurora Snow won Female Performer of the Year in January 2003 – only three years after getting into the business in 2000 at the age of 18. She had initially only planned on doing porn for a year, but then ended up performing until 2011, when she left the business. Some of the new generation of porn watchers who may not be familiar with Snow because she hasn’t performed in seven years should make an effort to watch the great work she put out over her 11 years in the industry. Work that earned her a place in both the XRCO and the AVN Hall of Fame!

Don’t Forget

Entering our contest is as simple as pie. All you need to do is register for a RabbitsReviews MyPorn account before Sunday, August 26, 2018. And if you already have an account that’s even better! Simply sign in before that date. Really, it’s that easy.

About The Author

A.K. Anderson

Born many years ago to Mr & Mrs Anderson, A.K. always knew he wanted to write for the Hareald. Sure, the site didn't even exist at the time and the internet was only a glint in Al Gore's eye, but little A.K. (whose middle name is Nostradamus) had a feeling. And sure, that feeling was probably the discomfort of a full diaper, but regardless he is now writing for the Hareald so don't overanalyze it.
