The free preview chat has a tiny video window - basically the size of a postage stamp - and it is with that that you are supposed to make a judgment if you want to go private or not.

In private the image grows to a normal size. The cam quality varied, but overall it ranged from mediocre to pretty good. In general the images were clear (although there was some graininess), but while some were very fluid, others were a little less so. That said, you shouldn't go off half-cocked just yet.
