Alt.comseems to attract a good number of visitors to its pages. Now as you can see by some of our surfers' comments, there's some positive and some negative feedback. First, I'd say most online dating sites have issues when it comes to whether all profiles are genuine. I also think that as far as the alternative side of things, I'm sure that someone who is merely curious about fetish sex and BDSM probably feels that a site like this one is a place merely to dabble in fantasy.

Now my advice would be similar to what some of readers who felt less misled by Alt.com have said. You can't have the ideal kinky relationship blossom like a perfect rose without pulling some weeds and risking the possibility of getting pricked by a thorn. However with chat rooms, blogs, an online magazine with user-submitted articles and groups you can join to help you get to know people better.

You can also check out your local area for how many activity members there are by creating a free profile and doing searches by zip code in the U.S. or by a dropdown of select cities if you live in the U.K. Now for other countries, like Canada for example, you can't search by city until you upgrade to have access to advanced searches.

The other issue is that you can't see many full profiles if you're a free member. Some premium subscribers pay extra allowing all members to view their complete details (excluding free views of any additional pics). Alternatively, if you own profile proves very popular, you may earn the ability temporarily to view additional profiles beyond the small standard limit.

For me though, if I was joining only to feed my voyeuristic tendencies then the explicit live member cams would be the real pull. On my visit, there were definitely more men and crossdressers than there were women online, but it was the middle of the day. I also saw some male with female couples.

Definitely from a dating standpoint, I think that you're going to see the most success if you pay for your membership. I'm not sure that I'd bother springing for the extra fee that allows all members to contact you, because these special profiles aren't marked in any way to let people know that anyone can contact you.

I’d probably just go with the cheaper of the two premium memberships, because it allows whomever you contact to reply back regardless of whether they've paid or not (the number of replies is limited on a daily basis for free members). In the end, Alt.com is worth checking out for free, especially for the naughty amateur hotties on cam.

    The site appears genuine till you start getting;
    - pay for play, lots of those
    - "I want to marry you" fraud letters from someone posing as a gal looking for $ not love, lots of those (they even send you nice pictures)FRAUD for sure
    - they try to double bill or will take your 12 month payment and use the funds to list you on two other sites making your 12 month membership into only 4 months, SNEAKY
    - the site is linked internally to other dating sites which they control and they will flip your profile around, unless you're on your toes you won't catch them doing this, . . I did by listing a profile on an affiliate site but only filled in 50% of my personality, on my paid site I filled in 80% of my personality, then every once in a while I would see that my personal profile was only 50% complete. Sneaky. They then take your filled in profile (50% or 80%) move it around their affiliate sites to show they have NEW MEMBER listings, SMOKE AND MIRRORS
    - some of the profiles are fillers (posers/fakes)and those people actually get paid to fantasize with you but will never meet you, . they get paid by the number of email responses they generate, they are for the most part STANDARD MEMBERS, misleading and fraudulent
    - BIG CLUE, go to their FAQ page, ever see so many FAQ's? No you haven't because legitimate sites don't have paying members calling or emailing every minute of the day because of all the BS

    AFF AND ALL OF THEIR AFFILIATE SITES ARE 90% FAKE. READ THEIR FINE PRINT, THEY SAY IN BLACK IN WHITE "strictly for entertainment purposes" "whereas no representation made to guarantee members, paid or otherwise will meet any member" blah blah bull shit
    -the site has some nice features, they are up to date with web cam etc., email takes 24 hours

    i was a gold member for two years never had a face to face meeting in spite of trying several invitations a week from me. Most women are either too timid or too overwelmed by no of reply or possibly poseing as live bait to attract punters for the pleasure of attention with no effort ie very safe sex.many said they had over 100 replies.one woman nearby wanted lots of sexy messages but wouldn.t meet.daily message xchange for weeks but always cautious,a genuine tease that was enough for herif u want real sub women hit the bars forget ALT.com

    this site didn t stand out among other dating websites, as said above site is broken at times, they monitor/intercept/erase e-mails that contain contact info in the first 2-3 e-mails. gold members even have to pay a extra fee for free members to respond.
