Fired Teacher's Flickr Pic

Generally, I think of home schooling as being the domain of overly protective parents who want to guard against the evils of public educational institutions that might influence their precious offspring to believe in crazy things like the theory of evolution or the right for women to vote.

One doesn't picture the average mother (no matter how MILF-worthy) looking for info on giving lessons at home expecting to find porn instead. However, if she hasn't updated her favorites lately and the old URL for Utah Home Education Association has turned to smut. The domain was bought out by an adult website and according to Julia Lyon of The Salt Lake Tribune (09/14/06), it now features graphic images labeled with links to "parental secrets" and "moms on film."

I was unable to confirm the content for myself since the web address http://www.Utah-UHEA.org does not appear to be working, probably overloaded thanks to the story. The site already averaged 10,000 visitors a day, so now that word of this shock and outrage has spread, one can only assume that the number of hits as probably down exponentially. I mean not because of anyone actually wanting to look at porn, but because concerned citizens most likely feel, that they have a duty to confirm the details for themselves.

After all as the President for the volunteer UHEA group that previously owned the domain, Jon Yarrington is quoted as saying, "There are sick, putrid people who do this on purpose."

It's not the first time that this sort of thing has happened I found an article by Jeffrey Benner on Wired from way back in December 2001 that states the same thing happened to another home education resource URL for Home Education Magazine. However, all the domains mentioned in that old story have since become those annoying placeholder pages full of links to commercial sites until someone repurchases the domain name.

Whether you choose, public schooling or home schooling, it seems that nudity may be involved as the photo I chose to illustrate this story is of a teacher that was fired in Texas for having sexually explicit photos posted on Flickr.
