Real life news tidbits. Really.

I come across the oddest tidbits of information when searching the Internet to read about what's up in the world or listening to the television. For example, yesterday I read a bit of fluff that Katie Holmes strict Catholic dad is extremely upset about the "possible evidence" of premarital sex with Tom Cruise. Hm, now there is an understatement if I ever heard one. Perhaps her being pregnant didn't quite make his list for "solid" evidence?

Another piece of humour was the announcement that the magazine Good Housekeeping is apparently publishing an article about etiquette in their November issue, and one of the top don'ts according to the BBC is "stretch out in a gym changing room without clothes on." Obviously, no one has ever seen a woman's change room at the gym, nor its floor, which is covered with strings of hair, droppings of lotions and god knows what else. First of all, who the hell does that? Second, who would want too? Besides, the sauna is much more conducive to getting laid.
Of course then there are the bizarre headlines like "Lawsuit eyed to force health care for aliens" which sounds more like it's from the National Enquirer, but in fact can be found in today's edition of the Washington Post.

When it comes to even more bizarrely laughable news, my favourite time of the year is when the Darwin Awards (Commemorating the dearly departed who contribute to the human gene pool by removing themselves from it) are handed out. "Difficile est satyram non scribere" said Juvenal, Satires. In other words: difficult is NOT to write satire when this is the state of the world.
