Funless Places to Stay

Forget about feeling guilty for pilfering towels, what did you do while in your hotel room to distract yourself from eating the $12 macadamia nuts out of your mini-bar? Did you maybe decide to watch a little bit of naughty pay-per-view?

A CBS Radio report (08/22/06) says some folks would like to remind us that the word holiday is merely a corruption of the words holy day. Families go on vacation so what kind of message is it sending to have companies such as South Dakota-based LodgeNet and Denver-based OnCommand, a subsidiary of Liberty Media Corp, peddling pornos across America in major lodging chains?

Thirteen conservative groups including the Family Research Council and Concerned Women for America paid for full-page advertisements in several editions of USA Today at the beginning of August. They demanded the Justice Department and FBI double check that hotels and motels across the country aren't offering any content in violation of any federal or state federal and state obscenity laws.

Rough estimates suggest that about 40 percent of lodgings for rent or in other words, about 1.5 million rooms in the US have adult materials for rental while industry analysts suggest that it represents 60 to 80 percent of in-room entertainment revenues worth approximately several hundred million dollars each year. Obviously, with that many sinners staying the night, it might be heard to see the saints as much of an incentive to change their evil ways.

Meanwhile, as is commonplace in a free market, despite complaining that good people are being forced to expose their loved ones to unwanted influences, there are choices. We know many places advertise non-smoking rooms but now you can stay in non-poking rooms too found at a site called Clean Hotels. It offers a list of alternative lodgings that do not offer any form of adult entertainment within their establishments.

For myself, I'll simply stay in places offering internet or take along some portable porn. There may be no place like home but there's nothing like porn and no one is going to ruin my next trip - Let's keep seeing the broad in going abroad.

I agree with them. We can't have people watching humans having sex - it's just not natural! And I think they should remove all mirrors from hotel rooms because perish the thought of anyone catching a glimpse of their own naked bodies. Before you know it, we'll all be going round procreating and where would that lead? And as for double beds! They should definitely be outlawed.
