Maybe it's the rise of the internet cutting into ratings. Or maybe it's the relaxing social mores around sexuality. Whatever the reason, television executives are embracing sex wholeheartedly on their airwaves in the form of reality television.

The first story comes out of South Africa. The country, which recently released its first all-black porn film despite 80% of the population being black, will be televising a reality show whereby the winners will become contracted Hustler performers.

The show, appropriately entitled "Porn Stars" will follow an American Idol approach where each of the contestants show their worth in the sexual arena and are judged by a panel of experts in the industry. There will be both a male and female winner who will no doubt become household names and surprise their friends and family in the process.

This isn't the first time porn has been the focus of a reality sex tube show. "Family Business" followed the exploits of our favorite gonzo director, Seymore Butts and Playboy TV has produced a variety of reality-themed programming, including the popular "Jenna's American Sex Star."

The difference between those shows and this one is that the contestants will be, for the most part, true amateurs who are completely outside of the adult industry. Production begins at the end of the year and the reality sex show will broadcast on the tube in early 2012.

The next piece of news is the UK plans on importing "Nak'D Truth" - a take on "Big Brother" that features people living in house completely naked all day, every day. Genital blurring and creative camerawork will prevent viewers from seeing the goods, but one has to imagine that if popular they'll release a DVD that shows them completely in the buff.

What surprised the producers of both of these new shows was how many people applied. Thousands men and women appeared at various cattle calls and caused massive lines. What is most surprising is that the producers didn't realize just how popular a show that entitled the contestants to money, notoriety and (in the case of "Porn Stars") sex with beautiful people would actually be. I mean, we here at Rabbit's Reviews get applications all the time and all we do is look at porn, not make it.
