Xenii Swing Ain't Princes Thing.jpg

I'm hardly an investigative reporter. However, looking for a photo to illustrate this next story, I found something far more interesting illustrating the old adage, "Don't believe everything you read."

According to the Yahoo Entertainment News pop singer Prince while visiting a strip club offered dancers double wages to stop dancing. It sounded as if he was on a one-man crusade similar to JCs Girls to save strippers from a life of sin.

Prince was quoted as saying to the dancing girls that it was "wrong to dance like that. What would your parents think if they could see you now? You're too good for this. You shouldn't be selling yourself so cheap."

When the women refused his offer, Prince reportedly turned his head away from their scantily clad shenanigans. The article continues with a quote from another partygoer, "No-one knows why he comes here. He doesn't drink, doesn't like the music and now doesn't like the dancers."

It does sound crazy, but poor eccentric Prince makes for easy prey. I guess it was a slow news day.

When I searched the story's Hollywood location, I discovered it's hardly a hardcore dancehall. It had a private members' area and a separate visitor's site requiring a signup process asking for age verification or with adult content warning.

Xenii turns out to be an ultra-exclusive nightclub, charging up to $4500 a month to become a private member. The "strippers" are simply go-go dancers.

Quoting the site, "Individuals are accepted into Xenii based on the strength of their relationships with trusted members and qualities and attributes they bring to the Xenii community."

Nevertheless, it might have misogynistic tendencies, Rob Perry, its founder says that Xenii has "not just the prettiest, but the highest-quality women."

The article states, "Women coming for the first time are assigned a number in the database. They are photographed, often without their knowledge, when waiting in line. Perry says they like to keep track of who comes in."

That just leaves one question, if it's so exclusive how did Prince get in? Maybe, with all the eye-makeup he normally wears, they mistook him for a "highest-quality" chick.
