Scottish man's supposed winning battle against Aids

More than any other transmittable disease, AIDS has had a devastating effect on the porn industry and the world, particularly in the early 1980's when there was relatively little known about the virus (although even now). While porn actors have always been more vulnerable to diseases due to the nature of their employment, it was in fact the consequences of HIV and AIDS that lead to both widespread testing and the use of condoms. Of course, those working in adult entertainment are probably a lot more diligent about being tested than the rest of us.

I recall a rumour, way back when, that there were numerous prostitutes in Thailand that had come in contact with HIV, but somehow seemed to be immune or didn't develop AIDS. Whether this was true or false, I really can't say since it was hearsay. I never really heard much about it after that.

However, a breaking news item in recent days suggests that a Scottish man who'd been diagnosed with HIV has in fact re-tested and is free from the virus. This is truly amazing and an exceptionally exciting discovery, and of course it begs for scrutiny, After all, it's a pretty unbelievable story to test positive one year and negative the next.

I can't say much more about this at the moment because I'm not exactly armed with the most valid evidence, although I'm aware that an International Congress on AIDS is supposed to occur later this week so we should know more about it then. One thing though, it is hugely hopeful and so I'll just lead you to the story and you can form your opinion with a bit more information than perhaps I could give you.
