When America's best-known researchers in the field of sexuality met recently to discuss development in the upcoming decade of their research, many concluded that they foresee a future of artificial sex partners designed to fulfill one's every desire. According to Julia Heiman, director for the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction at Indiana University, "What is very likely to be present before 2016 would be a multi-sensual experience of virtual sex."

That's what Adam Tanner of Reuters reports along with some interesting information about current existing technologies. Take for example, the system dubbed "teledildonics" that allows two people to control sexual devices such as vibrators while at opposite ends of two remotely connected computers.

"People who use it are just blown away. This is not something that just the lunatic fringe does," claims Steve Rhodes, the president of Sinulate Entertainment, the company that developed and marketed the technology to thousands of users over the past 3 years. He even goes as far as to imply it's helping American troops connect back home to love ones by stating, "The Iraq war...was kind of a boom for our company."

Gina Lyn writer of Wired magazine's Sex Drive column has used the Sinulator remote access sex system and enjoyed it. She explains, "People are still really afraid of...any sort of combination of sex and technology and of the Internet. What people are missing here is the point, which is the human connection that we are facilitating through the technology."

Carl DiSalvo, a doctoral candidate at Carnegie Mellon University's School of Design, aided in the design of a robotic "hug" device simulating the warmth and feeling of a human embrace. He figures similar design could work into the realm of sex.

"That hardly seems to be difficult," he thinks but he qualifies is observation by saying, "a realistic encounter is where the thing gets to be much more expensive."

Just check out the already existing realistic looking non-electronic sex dolls from companies like RealDoll.com. They cost $6500, not including $500 for shipping.

One can imagine how much more money a wired version would be. It would be like buying a car even if it would be more fun to drive. Nevertheless, if they could program it to do a little cleaning around the house and to make me a sandwich after the sex I'd be willing to consider it. Although I assume, batteries not included and some assembly maybe required.

Look guys, the twilight zone already has shows similar to this. This would be really bad. It disgusts me to the innermost level.

The idea of this is really bad. I am alive to stop this from happening. We don't need this. Humans don't need this. Planet earth does not need this.

Lets be completely honest for a moment. We're humans and humans need sex, but not everyone has such a booming sex life that they can just at will pick whoever they want to have sex with. Not everyone is super sexy or super suave or charming, but the need for sex is still there. Not to mention, for example, my wife, once she went through menopause lost all interest in sex. I love her and am not so shallow as to leave her or go cheat on her with a person who she'd be worried about losing me to, over lack of sex. But having not had sex in 8 years now, what is MY option? There are about a billion different scenarios and variables to consider when thinking that it is okay to start speaking for everyone and thinking we know what is best for everyone and passing judgement on people and what they're doing just because WE think they're wierd, don'tcha' think?
