Celebrities and Privacy

female celebs

I have mixed feelings about the level of privacy that celebrities should be allotted. On the one hand, since they are in the public eye, I think they obviously give up a portion of their privacy in exchange for the mega-bucks and easy lifestyle that they lead for being our fantasy personas. On the other, it seems a bit much to have paparazzi being able to lurk outside their vacation homes and such to snap a revealing photograph. There are loads of examples where unsuspecting celebs have been caught in the buff and then plastered all over the internet and magazines (take Female Celebrities site for example).

Remember Brad Pitt on vacation with Gwynneth? How about the recent reveal of Jude's hairy uncut dong? And it's not just the guys either... female lovelies have been caught in the nude too. Everyone ranging from Rachel Hunter to Fergie have bared their bods in public and been caught by a roving photographer. I feel a bit of sympathy since really there is no reason for our interest in seeing what they look like without their clothes but also I just think they must either want the attention or be totally clueless of the information age. I mean why else would a person of celebrity stroll around naked in public knowing that photographers are roving around all the time. It's all good I suppose because seeing what the lovelies of Hollywood have (or lack) just makes me thankful that I can at least go in the buff whenever and not have to worry about seeing myself on the cover of the National Enquirer the next month.
