Apple Pie Gets Waitress Fired

Lynn Smith is a 52-year-old waitress at the Little Chef diner in Talke, Straffordshire. She has worked at the diner for 12 years and was recently fired because she took home half a slice of apple pie! I am sure you are like me, who, when I heard this, assumed there had to be more to the story. Well, here is the more (although don't expect it to make the restaurant come out looking any better).

Mrs. Smith was working her shift at the diner and when it came time for her to take her lunch break she was given permission to have a piece of pie. Well, they happened to be short-staffed that day and Lynn, instead of finishing her pie, cut her break short to get back to work and put the remaining half piece in a box that she took home at the end of the day.

What's the problem, you ask? Well, the problem is that Little Chef has a policy that bans employees from eating company food at home. So when her bosses caught Lynn on camera taking a box home and she told them that it was half a piece of pie, they fired her!

While we are on the subject of apple pie, Wilford Brimley doesn't appear to be a fan of it:

Okay, I got two things to say about this. First off is the fact that the only reason Mrs. Smith didn't finish the pie was because she cut her break short and WENT BACK TO WORK!

I've had jobs where if I was on break I wasn't going back to work until the last second of my break ticked off the clock, no matter how busy things got. I'd even have customers standing in line look over at me drinking a soda and leaning back in my chair, and I'd look at them like, "Sorry, guys. I'm on my break." If Mrs. Smith had just taken that attitude she could have finished her lunch. So basically she got screwed for being a conscientious employee.

And why the hell can't employees eat company food at home anyway? What kind of a stupid rule is that? And even if, giving them the benefit of the doubt, there is a good reason for the "no company food at home" rule, can't they make an exception for a half a slice of fucking pie?

I mean, in Nebraska it is illegal for a mother to give her daughter a perm without a state license. And in Alabama it is illegal to wear a fake mustache that causes laughter in church. But I doubt the police in Omaha are busting into Little Miss Beauty Pageants and asking all the crazy pageant moms for their state perm licenses. And I have never heard of anyone getting kicked out of church in Birmingham for wearing a Groucho Marx glasses and mustache combo.

Speaking of apples, here are some porn-site suggestions with the word apple in the name: Sweet Apples, The Apple Twins and Asian Apple Seed.
